Let us all be honest here; at some point of our lives we took something from our hotel room as souvenirs, didn’t we? It is the holy rule of traveling still used by many avid travelers around the world. Even I was tempted, a couple of times, by Sheraton’s amazingly comfortable robes. The hotel management is providing you with goodies with the primary purposes of making you feel right home as soon as you check in. Although some items are provided for guests, there are room goodies considered to be hotel assets; taking one of these items is actually illegal.
You can bring home shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and other bathroom amenities. They are non-reusable and are provided in your room as part of the hotel’s services. You can actually take these amenities home if you like, since the housekeeper will put in a new one every day. Bathroom slippers are usually complimentary as well, but towels and robes are not.
Stationeries such as pens, notepaper, postcards and envelopes usually available on the hotel room are also given to guests as part of the hotel’s services. Feel free to take them with you if you like. Some hotel rooms may have coffee maker, irons, hairdryers, cable boxes, clock radios, and TV remote controls to make your stay a lot more enjoyable; these items are hotel properties and shouldn’t be packed no matter what. If you love some of the hotel goodies, including pillows and blankets, you can actually contact the front desk and let them know you want to purchase the item.
